Tina Free Jewellery is based in Yate, South Gloucestershire, England; I have been trading since 2003.

I undertook a two year apprenticeship, in Wales. Working with and being guided by an established Jewellery Maker, developing skills and gaining an awareness of materials. By the time I had finished my apprenticeship eleven galleries were showing and selling my work.

A short time later Tate Britain offered me a wonderful opportunity to design and make jewellery the complement three paintings in the Turner, Whistler, and Monet exhibition. This was followed by commissions to make jewellery for the Reynolds, Constable, Holbein and Camden, exhibitions and to complement a second Turner painting. I had great time making jewellery for Tate Modern for Christmas 2005.

In 2006 I was thrilled to be asked by The National Gallery make jewellery to complement paintings by Kallela, Renoir, followed by paintings by Gauguin and Cézanne. Working with the paintings is one of the most wonderful experiences of my life, and has certainly enriched my work. Late in 2007 I was asked to make jewellery for Tate St Ives, I made grey black shell jewellery with moody teal glass beads to high light, with this jewellery I was trying to reflect the sea on a stormy night.

The website is an ongoing piece of work which I do in partnership with Stephen Hull a dear friend that lives in Australia. We work to keep it fresh and to up date. Stephen is at this moment working to upgrade the website to make it easer for us to put new work on to it. Terry Helyar takes the photos and checks my spelling.

In 2006 the March Hare Gallery in Ripon asked me to make jewellery to reflect the Louise Carroll Books, Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass. My favourite childhood stories, seven collections of jewellery came from that work, all fun and playful and very lovely.

I strive to develop new jewellery, hoping to continue my relationship with the galleries I enjoy meeting lots of people at jewellery parties. I hope to expand my business and to develop new skills and access new materials. I am grateful to all the family and friends that lend a hand and especially to my nieces Toni Hull and Selina Watts who often spend time working with me. I am exited about my work; the jewellery, the beads, the web site, the parties, the galleries and the paintings all of which have me waking up each morning thinking, great another day.

 Best Wishes
